Yr 2, Wk 17 - 01/17/13
You may recall that I labeled the last two weeks as "fess up week" and "recommitment week" - both important for me to acknowledge in order to get things moving in the right direction. I'm glad to have that phase behind me and to be refocused on the goals that I've established. I still have several things to accomplish and I'm planning on getting them done. This past week - 'll call it "action week" - wasn't all about shedding pounds. It was more than that. It was an important step in the new direction. In fact, it was a lot of steps... some that I didn't even know I had in me. They were Zumba steps!
On Monday I joined about a dozen PEMCO colleagues in the company's fitness room where we shook, stepped, jumped and wiggled our way though sixty minutes of high energy Zumba dance steps,,, the likes of which our instructor may have never seen before. Unfortunately for him, he's going to see them again and again for the next seven weeks! The good news is that we all managed to survive the first session and everyone left a sweaty mess. I guess that was the objective, because it sure wasn't our ability to develop an outstanding booty roll!
12 hours after Zumba class was over, I was feeling the results of the first night's workout in every region of my body. And to think that I was wondering why we only had one class per week. Now I know. It took until about Thursday before I could walk with out grimacing again. Thank goodness for Advil.
The rest of the week included being more regularly acquainted with the elliptical trainer that we have in our guest room at home. I'm happy to report that despite the ZUMBA soreness I gave it at least 30 minutes on five of the 4 of the last 6 days. Not bad.
So that was action week. And tomorrow I'll be back in Zumba class. I need to get there early to make sure I have a spot in the back row!
